Firearms law, Washington

Post by LT » Thu Oct 26, 2017 5:46 pm

Discussion came up regarding the legality of carrying a firearm while intoxicated. I stated no prohibition, other party stated illegal. Washington state firearms laws are contained in RCW 9.41 which can be found here. If you are going to carry a firearm it might be worthwhile to familiarize yourself with these laws.

Correct opinion: not illegal

PS Not suggesting that you should carry when you are really drunk, but since the definition of drunk depends on the officer, it doesn't hurt to know the law. I carry almost 100% of the time when legally allowed and I don't let "having a couple drinks" stop me. An officer could interpret that as "intoxicated" but can't bust you for carrying.
